Moral Decay currently has a 6-hour cycle of reboots. This was originally necessary to maintain a stable game, as the old driver had several memory leaks. Reboots now serve as a time to run automated housekeeping tasks that cannot be run while the game is active.
Moral Decay was originally designed without any equipment that saved over reboots, to help maintain a game centered around the player’s character. Several changes have been recently introduced to allow people to play “short boots,” including the Vault.
